Describe what you mean by “Assisted Living.”
|
| A. |
Our Assisted Living is designed for older adults who value gracious living but no longer choose to live alone or who may need some assistance with their activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and medication reminders. The emphasis at The Gardens is on wellness and helping residents to be as independent as possible by providing a customized plan of assistance based on each resident’s particular needs.

| A. |
In January 1997, under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, (also known as the “Kennedy Kassebaum Act”) the cost of maintenance or personal care services that are required by an individual who is unable to perform at least two activities of daily living or who suffers from severe cognitive impairment and who requires supervision to protect self and others from threats to health and safety, may be tax deductible if such services are provided pursuant to a plan of care prescribed by a licensed health care practitioner. We suggest all residents consult with their own tax advisor before making any longer term care decisions based on the possible tax deductibility of assisted living costs.
